Trip
It's the same, beautiful ceremony every year: One week before the holiday, we take 21 days, and the same question comes up: what are we taking with us? We always feel like we're going to the island in Denmark for the first time. When we're getting our luggage ready, my wife says every year, "Please don't take as many kites with you as in previous years." To which I always reply, "Yes, I know, this year I'm going to take it a lot easier."
The day of packing: I always take a day off for this, the morning is filled with putting the kites together. Oh, what beautiful kites you can find there and we're going to the sea for 21 days. So, pack up whatever flies at the sea. You already have a good selection. The big Cody, well, where else can you fly him than at the sea? Pack it up!! The roof box is already full. Oh oh. Now for the accessories. It weighs far too much for the roof box anyway. So, open the trunk lid and put the stuff in. Pack the drinks for the 21 days, OK, and then pack them. Oh man, the chairs are still missing. Quickly put them behind the seat. Now to the gas station, petrol for the car and air for the tires. Now back home.
When we get to the top, my wife is already looking forward to my arrival. It's great that you're coming. What kind of stuff do you want to take with you? To which I then ask, Why stuff? What is all this stuff that's already packed? The trunk is already half full!! Man, we don't have a truck. So the bags go in the back seat. They were supposed to stay empty this year because we didn't want to take so much with us. Like every year, my wife says to me, I think you want to
go on holiday and not take so many dragons with you. I actually agreed to that. But now everything is packed. But next year, I won't take so much with me. All this lugging! But it's my own fault, right?? But I've been vaccinated with Dracholin. The next morning we'll set off. Man, the car is sitting well on the road. We're off again, like last year. We drive a little faster to the border. The ferry we booked isn't waiting. Are there any hang gliders on the motorway yet? My wife to me: Do you really have to rush like that? 120 km is enough. But the island. Finally at the border. Thank God no traffic jam. Wait 10 minutes. Now to the first rest area. There are already hang gliders there. Big welcome.
The weather is good too, if it stays like this for the 21 days then we're in luck. So, now to the ferry. As I said, it's not waiting. I looked in the rearview mirror, where are the others?? Do they drive differently, do they know a faster route? Well, let's see. Ribe is already behind us, oh, time is running out. The tower of Esbjerg can already be seen. But now it's not far to the ferry. Finally arrived in Esbjerg, follow the sign to the left to the dock. Yes, what is that, why can't we go any further? I think there were other people who had the idea of the island.
The ferry is coming, are we coming? No. Oh yes, he waves me onto the ferry. Let's go, get on the boat, set the handbrake, and onto the upper deck. A kite wind is coming towards us. The tension falls away from us. The island will soon have us again. Great, the trip is starting. Fanø, here we come. And the island is already getting bigger. There are already kites to be seen. The meeting is in a week. Arrived at Danibo's, got the key and when asked "do you need a plan?" the answer was "no, we know our way around". So now slowly to the house. Kite vacation!! Man, it's beautiful.
